On September 23, 2026, in Ho Chi Minh City, BIDV Insurance Corporation (BIC) and the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam - Tay Sai Gon Branch (BIDV Tay Sai Gon) met and awarded 20 million VND in Bao An Tai Khoan (Account Protection) cybersecurity insurance benefits to customer Q.K.T.
Customer receives maximum insurance benefits
On August 28, 2026, Mr. Q.K.T. received a phone call from a scammer claiming to be an official from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Finance, under the guise of urgently assisting businesses in completing business license applications ahead of the September 2nd National Day holiday.
After connecting via Zalo, the fraudster informed him that the issuance date on his Citizen Identity Card was incorrect and instructed him to access a fake website, congthuedientu***.com, to correct the information. On this website, the imposter asked the customer to fill in personal details. Upon completion, the scammer requested Mr. Q.K.T. to use his banking app to scan a QR code for a money transfer. Taking advantage of the customer being distracted by family matters, the subject took control of the device and withdrew 45 million VND. Upon discovering the incident, Mr. Q.K.T. quickly reported it to the police and contacted the bank to urgently lock his account.
Fortunately, Mr. Q.K.T. had previously enrolled in the Bao An Tai Khoan cybersecurity insurance via the BIDV SmartBanking app. Upon receiving the customer's notification, BIC promptly coordinated, provided guidance, and paid compensation to the customer amounting to 20,000,000 VND - the maximum payout limit of the Bao An Tai Khoan insurance package.
Small premium, substantial benefits
The Bao An Tai Khoan cybersecurity insurance product is currently deployed on the BIDV SmartBanking digital application. When making money transfer transactions on the app, customers can opt into the insurance with the first month free of charge. For subsequent months, the monthly premium is just 5,000 VND, offering coverage of up to 125 million VND/year.
Specifically, customers are protected against digital transaction fraud risks with a maximum payout of 70 million VND/year (up to 20 million VND/incident). In addition, Bao An Tai Khoan also covers insurance benefits related to accidental injuries with a protection limit of up to 55 million VND/year.
The compensation process has also been maximally simplified by BIC, helping customers quickly recover from losses in the unfortunate event of a risk. Customers can easily cancel their product enrollment directly on the app if they no longer need it.

Alongside equipping themselves with protective solutions like the Bao An Tai Khoan insurance, customers are advised to heighten their vigilance against online scams.
